Snow Goose Festival

Each January the program 2nd graders attend the Snow Goose festival of the Pacific Flyway in Chico, California. At the Snow Goose Festival there were many wildlife related crafts. We made the pinecone bird feeders, origami frogs, bird masks, a quail whistle. We held snakes and pollywogs,  saw hawks and owls up close, match photos of baby birds with their adults, learned about bill adaptations to bird diet, played a game about the water cycle and the web of life (food chain like), and bird identification bingo. The second graders had a ball, learned a lot about wildlife, and were exhausted by the time we went home.

  1. I ran into Kathy McKenzie at the snow goose festival and had a very nice time chatting with her students.

I did not know about Mi C.A.S.A. and am interested in writing a story about your program for the Enterprise-Record.

If you’re interested, please contact me at 896-7758. I’ll be out of the office until Tuesday morning.
